This started as a joke and ended up being one of my favorites. I first started this topper for a local show I was invited to attend, I made it thinking it would make people chuckle and move on but instead everyone loved it. The parasol is covered in silver German glass glitter. The couple sits underneath it. white strung pearls represent the raindrops The arbor above them is a combination of rose petals and english boxwood accented with light blue and grey hydrangea leaves. A grey ribbon is woven around it with pink silk Midori ribbon trailing at both sides. The base is covered in mica and this topper has a heavy chipboard base.The couple is surrounded in crinkle silver tinsel and more rose petals. parasol wedding cake toppers

If you love a bird cake topper but have trouble find the right pairs. DIY one maybe a good idea. Here is on cake topper DIYed by Miss Rainbow. She scoured Michaels at least once a week looking for the perfect Mr. and Mrs. Rainbow peeps. After too many hours in Michaels for the second time that week, she found them. Her two perfect birdies, matching her wedding colors, just waiting for her to take them home and jazz them up!

From Miss Rainbow’s experience, making such a bird cake topper isn’t too hard. (Wow, for me it must be Mission Impossible). So maybe she will post some tutorial, as her said, it was just a few craft supplies and a whole heap of hot glue. It’s basically idiot proof, minus a couple of finger burns.

Ok, the key point is here. Do you know how much this bird cake topper cost? Only $16. Here is the details.

  • 2 birds: $8 ($4 each)
  • Tulle Rounds: $2
  • Nest: $2
  • Bag of Moss: $3
  • Felt (on bottom, so no one ingests twig): $1

If you look closely enough, you can even figure some fake eyelashes on the birds—the right one is covered by the veil, but you can check the left one.

The only thing I feel weird is I think the right bride should be groom and left one should be bride, so how about put it on that white bird? I think it is better.

Oh, and one more thing, look at this tiny rosebud cake topper, I never saw anything that tiny and cute in my life, but I had all these felt scraps hanging around and a fired up glue gun……

The birds are made out of a combination of floral fabric and wool-blend felt.  Since it is customized item, so these little birds can be made into garlands, brooches or hair accessories too!  The birds are so cute, I love them.
