DIY Birds Cake Toppers

DIY Bird cake toppers

If you love a bird cake topper but have trouble find the right pairs. DIY one maybe a good idea. Here is on cake topper DIYed by Miss Rainbow. She scoured Michaels at least once a week looking for the perfect Mr. and Mrs. Rainbow peeps. After too many hours in Michaels for the second time that week, she found them. Her two perfect birdies, matching her wedding colors, just waiting for her to take them home and jazz them up!

From Miss Rainbow’s experience, making such a bird cake topper isn’t too hard. (Wow, for me it must be Mission Impossible). So maybe she will post some tutorial, as her said, it was just a few craft supplies and a whole heap of hot glue. It’s basically idiot proof, minus a couple of finger burns.

Ok, the key point is here. Do you know how much this bird cake topper cost? Only $16. Here is the details.

  • 2 birds: $8 ($4 each)
  • Tulle Rounds: $2
  • Nest: $2
  • Bag of Moss: $3
  • Felt (on bottom, so no one ingests twig): $1

If you look closely enough, you can even figure some fake eyelashes on the birds—the right one is covered by the veil, but you can check the left one.

The only thing I feel weird is I think the right bride should be groom and left one should be bride, so how about put it on that white bird? I think it is better.

Little Buddy Cake Toppers

December 18th, 2009

Wow, this little buddy cake topper is my favorite cake toppers today. I find it at Amy Walsh’ blog. First I love the shape and color. Second and maybe the most important part is the background. All elements inosculate perfectly, I love the flower in bride’ hand and the plant in their back( Although I can’t figure out what it is lol) . Oh, do I mention that this little buddy cake topper is a DIY’s item.  Her hand must be quite dexterity.

Felt Cake Toppers for Festival

December 18th, 2009

Do you get any similar problem that after whole day searching but still can’t find some special item for Chanukah? Tired of  boring looking dessert and want to try something new? Need an idea for a stunning party buffet? These felt cake toppers can help. Any cake or even a platter of fruit can be easily decor into something truly special. Trust me, my job is making any delicious but normal looking cake into something fabulous for any occasion! Skewers and height are two of the key factors in pulling this off, and for Chanukah it’s all about felt and sequins!

And just imagine, if you make some of the felt decorations, like the bunting banners or the rosebud bouquets, then your cake decor can pull together your whole look! I don’t think you need instructions for this one, just release your imagination and start your bud by gluing it to the skewer, and the other shapes are simply two dreidels back to back with a skewer in the middle. And if you’re really smart (like I wasn’t when I made and photographed these) don’t glue the skewer to the felt, that way you can insert a new skewer each time you’d like to use these.

And if you want to keep cake or platter simple and don’t want any decor, so these cake toppers can be made as fun table decor, too! Oh, and one more thing, look at this tiny rosebud cake topper, I never saw anything that tiny and cute in my life, but I had all these felt scraps hanging around and a fired up glue gun……

Have fun, and don’t forget, just release your imagination, your cake toppers would be wonderful in your hands.

When it comes to kid birthday cakes, it really is super easy for you to turn an ordinary, off-the-shelf cake into a fun, birthday surprise work of art that your child will really love and appreciate.

And today I will share you a space theme cake topper suitable for your kids. When you are a child, do you have that dream about flying to outer space or traveling to another planet?  Most children have that dream, of course including me. So when they receive such similar space attack cake toppers as their birthday gifts, how could you surprise?

I will jump around with joy. lol Whilst looking at this picture I’ve realized that the strange craft I couldn’t identify (top right) is a very stylized THUNDERBIRD 3 made to look like a church( Such a bad shape for thunderbird). Obvious really when you think about it, 3′s the only one missing!

Hand Sculpted Cake-Topper Figurines

December 17th, 2009

Hand sculpted cake-topper figurines of the bride and groom always look fun to you. They are like three dimensional caricatures of the couple! You can specify any thing you want such as dressed in bridal attire or something that represents a hobby you share or that reflects your personality.

Actually there are many kind of Hand sculpted cake-topper figurines, but usually the ones you find in the market focus on two style. One is really cute and lovely, but they don’t match the face of the couple, I mean the likeness. In contrast this kind of cake toppers may features the wedding theme the new couple specify. Here is a sample of this kind of cake toppers.couple-cake-toppers

Another style of cake toppers are the opposite. They focus on the likeness of bride and groom, sure, also they can match your wedding theme and the best part of them is your guests can figure out who will go down the aisle even without know the bride and groom by a glance of the cake topper.

Sample is here.

Cartoon Bride & Groom cake toppers

I found this Bride and Groom cake topper at here, well actually the background of lovely love shapes in different colors and sizes is my favorite part. lol It remind me peafowl. And I am sure the idea is related to peafowl more or less. The bride wears satin gown with ribbon at the back side while the hair is tied with bun shape design. The groom just wear simple tuxedo with line pants and small bow tie.
